Course outline

Module 1 — Chain of infection & hand hygiene

The module introduces the chain of infection and explains how infections can spread between people and through the healthcare environment. You can learn the WHO 5 moments for hand hygiene along with correct hand hygiene techniques and when they should be used during patient care.

Module 2 — PPE & precautions

Using the right PPE is an important part of infection prevention. The module covers PPE selection, correct donning and doffing procedures, as well as the difference between standard and transmission-based precautions. You can also learn how these precautions can be applied to the situation and level of risk.

Module 3 — Waste & sharps safety

Segregation, disposal, and sharps injury prevention.

Assessment & certification

Safe handling of clinical waste and sharps reduces the risk of infection and workplace injuries. This module covers waste segregation and safe disposal practices and basic measures for preventing and responding to sharps-related risks.
