Curriculum

Course outline

Module 1 — Fire science & hazard identification

Learn the basic principles of fire science, the fire triangle, fire classifications, hazards in the workplace and how to take practical steps to reduce the risk of fire before it happens.

Module 2 — Firefighting equipment

Develop practical skills in selecting and operating fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and hose reels through guided, hands-on training, ensuring safe and effective use during workplace emergencies.

Module 3 — Evacuation & emergency coordination

Understand how to organise evacuation of the workplace, manage assembly areas, undertake head count and act as a fire warden, in support of an organised emergency response.

Assessment & certification

Assess and conduct a practical fire safety exercise and complete a written assessment. Successful participants are awarded a QR-verified DIMS certificate, which is securely issued using the DIMS Certificate System, which allows certificates to be verified online at the click of a button.
